House at Crewkerne

Listed Buildings

Many of the buildings we value are Listed Buildings and it is a privilege to work on such buildings which have survived many years. We value the expertise that created them, and while respecting the past we can then develop the buildings to meet the needs of current owners. At times the new designs should copy the existing work, and in others the work should complement but be in a modern style. In either event the materials should, we feel, weather and be neighbourly.

At Crewkerne we turned the house upside down! The living areas were in basement rooms due to rising land, and we took them to the first floor where they open to the terraced gardens. All new services, and fittings inserted discretely making the house elegant again.

At Charlton Herring we rebuilt a cottage that was derelict for 80 years. New oak trusses open to view made the bedroom an exciting place to rest.

At South Cheriton we made four bedrooms into a master suite, then converted the cowsheds into three en-suite bedrooms linked to the house with a new garden room.

Market Street, Poole has been extended and converted to provide 3 maisonettes and 3 flats retaining and enhancing the character of the building and street.

At Sutton Mandeville the new "tea cosy" extension is a subservient extension to the main thatched house.

Purewell Farmhouse was left derelict following road improvements. The building was fully repaired and is now an elegant house again.
